Animal Concern Cumbria is a small local charity that exists to help find new homes for neglected or unwanted animals.
It is the firm policy of Animal Concern Cumbria (West) not to destroy an animal for want of a home, except on the medical advice of a Veterinary Surgeon. The Charity is self-funding and is run entirely by Volunteers.
FOOD NEEDED
We rely entirely on donations to feed the dogs in our care, we urgently need tins of dog food and bags of plain mixer. Please place any donations in our collecting boxes located in Morrisons (Whitehaven/Workington) and Millcroft (all branches). Alternatively please get in touch to arrange collection from Egremont, Whitehaven, Workington, Cockermouth and surrounding areas. THANKYOU!!
Have you considered an older dog?
With an older dog you know exactly what you are getting in terms of size and temperment, they are well past the 'naughty' and 'chewing' stages, and all are vet checked and vaccinated. Could you offer that special home to one of our oldies? CLICK FOR MORE DETAILS:

ADOPTION
If you feel you could provide a forever home for one of the animals currently in our care, please read our Adoption Policy on the General Information page.
A LIFETIME'S CARE
There are some animals in our care who, through no fault of their own, can never be rehomed. Animal Concern Cumbria will continue to care for these animals throughout their lives.
Funds are always needed for this and all our work; ways in which you could help can be seen on the Support Us page.
Having problems with your dog?
Before deciding to release your pet please consider contacting our behaviourist. He has worked with many of our adopters to enable 'problem dogs' to become well adjusted family pets - he may be able to help you too!
Missing Pet?
This website deals with the West Cumbria branch of Animal Concern, which rescues and rehomes dogs, cats and occaisionally small animals such as rabbits, ferrets and rats. The branch is based in and around the Workington area where we maintain a kenelling facility for dogs.
